The symbolism of traditional marriage Foods in China

Posted by superjumpz on March 14th, 2010

A traditional marriage in China about food triggers. There is usually no formal ceremony, the bride and groom become betrothed, but after a big lunch (sometimes dinner) are married to them. Eating Chinese food, especially traditional marriage in China is loaded with symbolism and variety of dishes to guests, says a lot about the couple to put their families and their perspectives. Here are some popular dishes are presented with their meanings:

Chicken and Shrimp(or lobster): These two flavors do not mix well, but courts could hold two separate ingredients: chicken, or female part of the Phoenix, shrimp or lobster, as the dragon or in part, male.

Appointments with chestnuts (or Litchi): The debate sounds a lot like the word "soon children. A popular will and perhaps a little 'pressure on the bride by the groom's parents.

Duck: Wild ducks pair for life, and thus serve a wedding duck symbolizes marriageLoyalty. It would be very strange not duck in one form or another to serve.

Fish: The word for fish sounds like a lot, and for prosperity. Since it is always hoped that the couple and their descendants, will be served fish to thrive. This is traditionally left to the last. The fish head should be on the guest of honor at every table, and the bride and the bridegroom is with them.

Pomegranate: This should contain exactly 666 seeds – no more, no less –and are more or less the ultimate symbol of fertility.

Seeds: These represent the fertility and very coarse. The seeds are used for the most popular watermelon, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds.

You've probably realized that a large part of the symbolism is the desire for children, especially children, online. This stems from the ancient teachings to make us better known in the West through the teachings of Confucius, a young man needs to take the proper rites at his funeral.Throughout history, children have been popular. Now, practiced with the one-child policy, which traditionally mind men are to be upset over the border for the offspring of the desired sex.

I was fortunate to visit many traditional weddings in China, even in my country of origin. The food was always excellent and if you're lucky to get an invitation, do not hesitate a moment. We can expect to see all the above and much more. Their role is seen as a guesteat the heart and have fun.

Giving is not normal. Most hotels are to give an ang pow, as they arrive. This is a red envelope decorated with special characters, and good luck with a donation for expenses. The notes should be fresh and clean, and a number convenient. Check with the other guests, to find out what is appropriate. The amounts are often included so that the bride and bridegroom when they go to a wedding guest to reciprocate later. Too much or too littlea loss because of one way or another.

Why Wireframes are a thing of the past

Posted by superjumpz on March 13th, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Yes, even if they are wireframe before building a website or software required, they are no longer sufficient. I'll tell you why in a second, but first we need a little 'history to do it.

Wire mesh: a brief history

Earlier this year (IT) time someone wanted to build a website or an application (and this applies to all products made by people), things on paper was (and in many cases still is) the first thing the professionals think, define, and theirProject. But soon, he asked customers for more than mere sketches and maquette. IT consultants first began using PowerPoint for the entire software development or to display pages of a site. Clickable wireframes, ie a short version of an interactive application that was obviously the next step (which is why so many wireframe design are approximate).

But in the era of Web 2.0, RIA, or dynamic sites, static wireframes just don 't do more. Conditional navigation, interaction intensiveChanging the contents of the database … IT products are increasingly complex and small enterprise "low fidelity" dumb, does not include the vast majority of the final app or website.

High-fidelity prototypes

Wireframe is dead, long live wireframe! What's next then? They 're called high-fidelity prototypes, "High Fidelity", because they have the same look and feel like the end product, "prototype", because they are fully functional versions ofFinal product.

Why bother?

Now, one might say, why bother with a prototype of HI-FI, if it is the same as last year? Well, even if it is a prototype for end users, virtually identical to the final product, is not exactly like most of the prototypes are only the HTML version, not with the same technologies that will subsequently be implemented. But even here one could say: What is the point in preparation for something identical to the final product? Well, a prototype of HI-FIis useful for several reasons:
– (Effectively communicate with customers about them is often not read and write)
– In particular, in defining the specific
– Implementation of test users
– To view the applications and see the limits
– Follow-up and visualization of change through all the processes
– Gauge the technical feasibility
– Or sell an idea

As prototype

Well, if you 're done with paper prototypes, you can build a prototype in HTML. However, this is a long,time-consuming job, is (code) and that is not useful when you are building 're an interactive application or a dynamic website. The best way to do this is with a high fidelity tool wireframing (ie Justinmind Prototyper). This type of tool allows you to create functional prototypes fully dynamic and interactive, without coding. A prototyper will design, add rich interactions (jQuery-like), integrate real data, Create navigation conditional diagrams (ieThe flow of navigation) to generate specification documents and to experimentation remote user.

Rogue Mutual Fund Investing

Posted by superjumpz on March 12th, 2010

One of the most common amateur techniques for stock picking involves standing around the water cooler (or online message boards) and picking up on cues given by people who know someone who know someone else who knows yet another person who said this or that and, get this, Stock XYZ is where you want to be. In some cases, these tips work out to the advantage of all those who risked their grocery money or mortgage payments. In many more cases, however, those types of tips do not work out.

See, investing is a lot like the game of poker. While skill and knowledge are clearly valuable, there is always an element of luck. Even the greatest companies with the greatest results can see their stock price plummet… based simply on an outlook that was moderately lower than what investors had hoped for.

This further reinforces the power of mutual funds as an intelligent investment option for every investor. But many defiant investors will argue until they turn red in the face (or suffer a stroke) that there is too much “garbage” in a fund. They will argue that most people should pick the winners instead of taking the whole basket.

The question becomes: which are the winners? So many companies publish great quarterly or annual results only to see their stock price drop. So, how do you pick those winners and what makes those “losers” unqualified?

To make the process easier for investors, consider reverse engineering your investment decisions. Have a handful of stocks that are “guaranteed” to double or triple over the course of the year? Perfect. Buy them… within a mutual fund. Here is how you can enjoy those great returns while protecting yourself against the downside (take note: if you have 5 “sure bets,” at least 2 of them will tank).

1. Search for the Major Mutual Fund owners of the stock(s) in question. For example, let’s look at Apple Inc. Its largest Mutual Fund owner is the Fidelity Contrafund.

2. Investigate the Mutual Fund instead of the stock as it is much easier to do. In keeping with the example above, the Fidelity Contrafund is a highly ranked fund (and has been for the past 10 years). It is considered to have average risk for above average returns compared to other funds in its peer group (unlike Apple alone which would be higher risk on diversification reasons alone).

3. Purchase the mutual fund if it meets your risk and objectives rather than the stock. In keeping with the example above, let’s assume that the talk around the water cooler was wrong and Apple tanks the the same week that Google skyrockets… good thing you bought the fund instead; the Fidelity Contrafund used in this example also owns Google.

Ultimately, owning a mutual fund, even if you are reverse engineering your investment decisions, allows you to enjoy a greater deal of diversification, which is a fundamental of proper asset allocation.

Is HR Outsourcing A Good Solution For My Company?

Posted by superjumpz on March 11th, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Human Resource Outsourcing (HRO) is a term used to define those HR – related processes which companies choose to outsource to a third party. Many firms offer full services and act as a virtual HR department or may offer al la carte services providing as much or as little assistance as needed. Others may be highly specialized in one area. Although HR Outsourcing is relatively new, more and more companies are realizing the benefits of outsourcing at least part of their HR function.

According to a study conducted by Fidelity Investments which surveyed 264 large companies, 190 of those companies reported that they outsource at least one HR function.

There are several benefits to outsourcing all or part of the HR function. Outsourcing eliminates the time-consuming paper chase allowing HR to take on a strategic, rather than administrative role. For example, if a company is going through a high volume of recruiting and also planning to relocate is the HR Director’s time better spent reviewing thousands of resumes or working to negotiate and manage the move? In this scenario, the company can easily outsource the staffing and recruiting function to a third party, maximizing the core competencies of both parties.

Another benefit to outsourcing is enhanced technology. Many third party vendors either have their own technology or work with alliances that bring state of the art technology to a company, without the company having to make the time and dollar investment in building, purchasing or maintaining an internal system.

Finally, outsourcing allows access to local subject matter experts when needed, especially when locating operations to a new state with a unique set of employment laws and regulations.

A company that is considering outsourcing should conduct an internal analysis. Doing so helps set expectations, determine a budget and builds buy-in and understanding of what outsourcing can bring to the organization. Conduct a cost/benefit analysis of what an outsource firm will cost versus the cost for internal employees. Consider factors other than annual salary such as office space, equipment, relocation and benefit costs. Once internal needs have been defined, shop different outsourcing firms. An outsource firm should feel like an extension of the organization and be a good fit with the organizations cultural.

Questions to ask include;

How long have you been in business?
How many years experience do your consultants have?
Do your consultants have diverse industry experience?
Have your consultants worked outside the HR profession?
What educational level/certifications do your consultants have?
Will you interact directly with my employees or work through me?
Do you handle multi-state locations?
Is staff available onsite or is support limited to phone and internet?
What type of technology offerings and support do you provide?
Who will I be working with? What is their background?
Have you worked with similar industries?
Is there an attorney on staff for legal support?
May I have a list of references?
What do you believe you can provide that internal staff can not?
How do you charge? Is it a project fee or by the hour?
Ask for a copy of the contract.

Outsourcing all or a portion of your HR function can bring great benefits to employees, the HR team and the bottom line. The decision to outsource should be made with the same due diligence any other business deal would require to ensure the best fit and benefits for the organization.

Three Top Causes of Divorce

Posted by superjumpz on March 10th, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Nothing is wrong with logic. The crux of the problem is that this entire enquiry into the complexity of nature has failed to unravel the innate simplicity that lies at the core of this universe and has ignored to emphasize its validity for harmonious co-existence.

Too much energy in the developed world is being spent in nourishing the mind at the cost of the heart. One of the possible outcomes of this lopsided growth is an unprecedented rise in the divorce rates. Considering the abundance of things that are there to distract the human awareness in the concurrent Western world, multiple are the reasons for a breach in the existing social order. It would be quite interesting to discuss a few of them.

Conflict of Values Conflict of values and human failure to make way for a peaceful co-existence have not only unleashed the war of civilizations, evident in the current geopolitical scenario, but has its impact on the very intricacies of microcosmic social norms. The aggravating conflict of values and intolerance have infiltrated the domain of interpersonal relationships. The current global model of development motivated by Western success will have two possible outcomes. Either it may dull the individual mind to habitually adhere to the popular, consensual value system or it may awaken him to the possibilities of personal and social evolution. Couples who happen to belong to these two extremes will be more prone to conflicts, unless a balance is achieved by integrating the salubrious effects of both the possibilities.

Extramarital Affairs Before I proceed, let’s have a consensus on two things. If marriage has to survive as a social institution, fidelity will have to go with it. Secondly, if an individual gets into a marital relationship, he or she should be honestly willing to accept the restraints of fidelity. I am not basing this premise on arcane Church doctrines, but even pure logical calisthenics will lead you to this conclusion. Just try it.

Then, why are the extramarital affairs on the rise? No matter what the conservatives say, let’s accept it that the contemporary Western society has to some extent succeeded in harmonizing sex in its social fabric. At least a beginning has been made. Humanity is finally ready to accept that marriage is not the only way of validating, restraining, directing and expressing sexual drive. But, at the same time, we are unwilling to take the uncertainty that comes with this evolutionary step. Inherently we know that if such noble intentions are not backed by a sense of personal and social responsibility, the results could be disastrous. Yet, there is no dearth of married individuals who are willing to take advantage of this evolutionary, intermediary stage in our society. Their reasons for doing this may sometimes be very human, but, yes, they are willing to take advantage.

Physical, Emotional and Sexual Abuse Domestic abuse is mostly perpetrated at physical, emotional and sexual levels and is recognized as a criminal act throughout the civilized world. An abuser primarily expects three things from his or her victim. He or she should be willing to gratify his or her sensual urges as a human, should be able to execute his or her dictates as a robot and should be willing to accept the abuse as a slave.

Physical, emotional and sexual abuse mostly comes in a single package. However, sometimes they may exist in isolation, depending upon the level of criminal cunningness of the abuser.

Emotional abuse is the most hidden and common form of abuse. An emotional abuser is a coward and a bully at the same time. He or she intends to harass his or her victim without overtly breaching the social and legal norms. Physical abuser resorts to blatant use of violence to subjugate the victim, with complete disregard for social and human values. Sexual abuse is the ultimate culmination of abuse where the victim is denied any right even over his or her own body.

Considering the recent developments in robotics and polymers, we may soon be able to produce such automatons that will enable the society to provide abusive individuals with partners who will cater to their innate urges in a socially and legally acceptable way. Till then, we are left with no other option but to restrain them with the force of law and social pressure. Divorce is one such social and legal choice.

The First Leaf of Life

Posted by superjumpz on March 7th, 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Talking with a friend of mine while we were on our weekend shopping trips at a local herbarium and flower shop, we reminisced about the good times when plants and flowers were used to express good things such as love attraction. My female colleagues and I innocently responded to the flirting with blushed faces and cute smiles. I’m sorry to state a cliché but… Oh Lord, how I miss those good old times!

My friend’s mom used to sprinkle small leaves and pour plant baskets around the apartment to bless the life of her family. Today, I’ve also seen beautiful herbal blessing bottles for those of you who would decide to buy all ready made rather than do it by your own. Some of them have a tag explaining any of the following intentions: Devotion, everlasting love, appreciation, or joy and happiness. My friend keeps up with the tradition of recreating the free-spirited and green nature inside the four blocks of her walls. For her, as for many women, it expresses one’s spiritual visions and feelings, and it is also a wonderful reminder of one’s dreams.

More than looking and smelling at flowers and plants, try to connect your spiritual self with them. They have life, although very short, but very powerful. In case that you are ignorant of their existence, I am placing some plants and flowers names related with love, because as a popular saying goes, “love is all we need!”. So spreadit!
